But many also feel a sense of trepidation and worry that life may not be as it was before the pandemic overtook our nation.<\/p>\n<p>For our fifth week of\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.insticator.com\/category\/insticator-insights\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"COVID-19 poll insights (opens in a new tab)\">COVID-19 poll insights<\/a>, we utilized our poll unit across a variety of news sites with U.S. audiences to discover how readers envision what life may look like after the peak of the pandemic has passed. With over 5,000 responses submitted, readers expressed their predictions for a post-coronavirus world.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-6620 lazy loaded\" src=\"https:\/\/www.insticator.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/06\/Look-into-the-future-incontent-embed.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1800\" height=\"930\" data-src=\"https:\/\/www.insticator.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/06\/Look-into-the-future-incontent-embed.jpg\" data-srcset=\"https:\/\/www.insticator.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/06\/Look-into-the-future-incontent-embed.jpg 1800w, https:\/\/www.insticator.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/06\/Look-into-the-future-incontent-embed-300x155.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.insticator.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/06\/Look-into-the-future-incontent-embed-1024x529.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.insticator.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/06\/Look-into-the-future-incontent-embed-768x397.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.insticator.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/06\/Look-into-the-future-incontent-embed-1536x794.jpg 1536w\" data-sizes=\"(max-width: 1800px) 100vw, 1800px\" data-was-processed=\"true\" \/><\/figure>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">With states easing up restrictions, readers are eager to see their family and friends:<\/h2>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-6616 lazy loaded\" src=\"https:\/\/www.insticator.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/06\/Look-into-the-future-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1800\" height=\"870\" data-src=\"https:\/\/www.insticator.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/06\/Look-into-the-future-1.jpg\" data-srcset=\"https:\/\/www.insticator.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/06\/Look-into-the-future-1.jpg 1800w, https:\/\/www.insticator.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/06\/Look-into-the-future-1-300x145.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.insticator.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/06\/Look-into-the-future-1-1024x495.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.insticator.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/06\/Look-into-the-future-1-768x371.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.insticator.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/06\/Look-into-the-future-1-1536x742.jpg 1536w\" data-sizes=\"(max-width: 1800px) 100vw, 1800px\" data-was-processed=\"true\" \/><\/figure>\n<p>Exactly half of respondents (50 percent) can\u2019t wait to see friends and family after self-quarantine restrictions are lifted. Over 35 million Americans live alone, and many had to cope with\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/time.com\/5833681\/loneliness-covid-19\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\" (opens in a new tab)\">severe loneliness<\/a>\u00a0during months of isolation, making in-person contact with family and friends all the more invaluable.<\/p>\n<p>As stores slowly reopen across the nation, 12 percent of respondents are eager to shop for non-essentials. More and more retailers are offering curbside pickup as another way to keep customers safe, in addition to social distancing markers and capacity limits.<\/p>\n<p>11 percent of respondents say the first thing they\u2019ll do is get physical activity, while 27 percent have other things in mind, whether it\u2019s dining at a restaurant or hitting the beach.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Readers are hesitant to travel and attend live events:<\/h2>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-6617 lazy loaded\" src=\"https:\/\/www.insticator.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/06\/Look-into-the-future-2.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1800\" height=\"930\" data-src=\"https:\/\/www.insticator.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/06\/Look-into-the-future-2.jpg\" data-srcset=\"https:\/\/www.insticator.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/06\/Look-into-the-future-2.jpg 1800w, https:\/\/www.insticator.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/06\/Look-into-the-future-2-300x155.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.insticator.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/06\/Look-into-the-future-2-1024x529.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.insticator.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/06\/Look-into-the-future-2-768x397.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.insticator.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/06\/Look-into-the-future-2-1536x794.jpg 1536w\" data-sizes=\"(max-width: 1800px) 100vw, 1800px\" data-was-processed=\"true\" \/><\/figure>\n<p>Half of respondents (50 percent) say they don\u2019t plan on traveling once restrictions are lifted, while a more optimistic 25 percent of respondents plan on vacationing. 20 percent plan on visiting family members, while only 5 percent will travel for work.\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.travelandleisure.com\/travel-tips\/is-it-safe-to-fly\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\" (opens in a new tab)\">Experts say<\/a>\u00a0there are many variables to consider when gauging how safe it is to travel, whether it\u2019s for work or for pleasure.<\/p>\n<p>When it comes to large events such as basketball games and concerts, a whopping 60 percent of respondents will be more hesitant to attend in the future, while only 26 percent responded no. Public health professionals are similarly reluctant to crowd surf and cheer on the Knicks; in a recent\u00a0<em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/interactive\/2020\/06\/08\/upshot\/when-epidemiologists-will-do-everyday-things-coronavirus.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\" (opens in a new tab)\">New York Times<\/a><\/em>\u00a0article, a vast majority of epidemiologists say they\u2019ll feel comfortable attending large events such as concerts and plays over a year from now. Events are responding in like, with the U.S. Open Tournament recently\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2020\/06\/16\/the-us-open-tennis-tournament-will-go-on-but-no-fans-are-allowed.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\" (opens in a new tab)\">announcing<\/a>\u00a0it will be held without fans in attendance.<\/p>\n<p>But some leaders in the live events industry are\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.fastcompany.com\/90516669\/are-concerts-festivals-and-live-events-ever-coming-back-heres-what-6-experts-say\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\" (opens in a new tab)\">optimistic<\/a>, with one stating that live events will \u201ccome back, and they\u2019re going to come back in a big way.\u201d Ali Rubenstein says, \u201cWe\u2019re not going to let things like wearing masks or having to stand six feet apart for a while and be appropriately socially distanced stop the craving to get back out and experience live events, human interaction, exhibitions, entertainment, all of those things.\u201d<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Readers believe we won\u2019t have a vaccine or a fully-recovered economy by the end of 2020:<\/h2>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-6618 lazy loaded\" src=\"https:\/\/www.insticator.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/06\/Look-into-the-future-3.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1800\" height=\"930\" data-src=\"https:\/\/www.insticator.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/06\/Look-into-the-future-3.jpg\" data-srcset=\"https:\/\/www.insticator.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/06\/Look-into-the-future-3.jpg 1800w, https:\/\/www.insticator.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/06\/Look-into-the-future-3-300x155.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.insticator.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/06\/Look-into-the-future-3-1024x529.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.insticator.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/06\/Look-into-the-future-3-768x397.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.insticator.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/06\/Look-into-the-future-3-1536x794.jpg 1536w\" data-sizes=\"(max-width: 1800px) 100vw, 1800px\" data-was-processed=\"true\" \/><\/figure>\n<p>Though drugmakers around the globe are\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnn.com\/2020\/06\/24\/health\/uae-china-human-trial-coronavirus-intl\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"racing (opens in a new tab)\">racing<\/a>\u00a0to create a coronavirus vaccine, over half of respondents (59 percent) don\u2019t believe we\u2019ll have one before the end of 2020. It typically takes\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.thelancet.com\/journals\/lancet\/article\/PIIS0140-6736(20)31252-6\/fulltext\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"a decade (opens in a new tab)\">a decade<\/a>\u00a0to develop a vaccine, but given the extreme urgency, drugmakers are shortening trials and expediting the process.<\/p>\n<p>72 percent of respondents don\u2019t think America\u2019s economy will be able to recover by the end of 2020. Though the market has rebounded slightly from the crash of\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.bloomberg.com\/news\/articles\/2020-03-19\/the-great-coronavirus-crash-of-2020-is-different\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"March 2020 (opens in a new tab)\">March 2020<\/a>, the stock market is once again\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/business\/2020\/06\/24\/dow-tumbles-more-than-700-points-surge-coronavirus-cases-rattles-investors\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"tumbling (opens in a new tab)\">tumbling<\/a>\u00a0as investors fear another surge of cases.<\/p>\n<p>How is your team gauging your readers\u2019 thoughts today?
